The members of the group carry out cultivation tasks independently, in accordance with PharmaROSA's professional and technological guidelines.
The group members grow potted roses from own-root propagating material in 2 and 6 litre containers. During cultivation, special attention is paid to varietal purity, plant development rate, and sustainable cultivation methods.
This cooperation has created a production system where expertise, responsibility, and precision meet—ensuring reliable, high-quality rose plants for our customers.
PharmaROSA® – Rose Cultivation with Tradition and Innovation
The story of PharmaRosa Ltd. spans several decades and originates from a family nursery where innovation and a commitment to quality horticulture were central from the beginning. The founders established the professional values that still define our operation today.
In the early 1970s, we expanded our activities to include rose cultivation. Initially, we grew traditional bare-root roses, and after years of experience, we developed the technology for budding roses in pots. This method not only provided excellent rooting capacity but also ensured varietal identity. By the 1990s, the nursery evolved into a successful business, becoming a key player in Hungary's rose market until 2015.
However, the economic and labour market changes since 2018 presented new challenges for the horticultural sector. Rising labour costs, a shrinking workforce, and changing customer habits led us to rethink our operations. While garden centres reduced their offerings, consumer expectations became more diverse, and online sales gained greater significance.
As a response, in 2021, we were the first in Europe to introduce own-root cutting-grown rose cultivation across our entire range. Although the method’s efficiency had long been proven, further technology development enabled us to apply it to all rose types. In recent years, our range has expanded to nearly 1500 varieties. Our own-root roses are produced in an environmentally conscious way, using less energy and materials, ensuring long lifespan, abundant flowering, and varietal integrity.
Besides cultivation technology, the structure of our business also transformed. Today, PharmaRosa operates as an organised grower group, where the founders’ descendants and horticultural colleagues take part in cultivation as independent producers. With the cooperation of PharmaRosa Ltd., they are provided with procurement, logistics, processing, and online sales services throughout the European Union.
We are committed to offering our customers high-quality, own-root roses by combining modern technologies with our deep-rooted traditions.
